Hi, everyone! ( ゚▽゚)/ First of all: I’m very sorry for the long wait! I got sick over the weekend and felt kinda crappy for a few days, which ruined my plans for a sooner update. This weekend is a bit busy too, with stuff like family coming over for dinner and a little christmas shopping with my sis. Still, I managed to get quite some stuff done, so let’s take a look at today’s progress chart! ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ
You’ll notice that the “Sprites” bar is almost entirely filled. Aside from a few expressions, every sprite I’ll need for Tenkei Tales I (that’s five characters, with three of them having a second variation) is finished! o(≧∇≦o) Two of the charsets are done too, the first being Kanami herself – you can see her “standing still and facing down” pose on today’s preview pic. (It’ll be much smaller in-game, of course.) Charsets consist of a “facing up”, “facing down”, “facing left” and “facing right” pose, which are further broken down in “standing still”, “putting the left foot forward” and “putting the right foot forward”. Those three are responsible for the walking animation. All in all, there are twelve different little Kanamis on her charset, but there’s a lot of copy-pasting involved too, so it’s not that bad. (⌒▽⌒)ゞ Just thought I should probably explain, in case you’re not familiar with RPG Maker!
Behind Kanami you can see a first sketch of the lighthouse, the location of this little game. The layout will probably stay like this, but the colors are subject to change and there are a lot of missing decorations – I just wanted to assess how the whole thing looks from a little distance. Speaking of the lighthouse, I’ve made a bit of progress on the interior as well, so the “Maps” bar grew too! (・∀・)
Making maps is always the most protracted part of work. I don’t like too many empty spaces, walls without decorations or illogical room structures, so I do my best to create a comfortable home for my characters. A house like this is fairly simple, but it still takes quite some time to figure out dimensions and where to place all the furniture. It’s also fun to include things that express the character’s personality! (≧∇≦)/ At least the personal rooms need to radiate their owner’s style, their tastes and hobbies. A room like that is far more enjoyable to explore and makes you discover tons of little facts about someone, if you take the time to examine everything! (。>ω<)。
Um, I’m kinda rambling now, so yeah… it all boils down to “Natsu loves details and hopes you will enjoy them as much as she does”. Σ( ̄□ ̄;) Let me tell you a little bonus secret: There will be more than one playable character, and if you examine things with a different person, you’ll get different responses too! I have way too much fun with this stuff. ((゜Д゜)ゞ
Alrighty, and that’s all for today! Thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend, everyone! <3
