Hey, everyone! ヾ(｡･ω･｡) I had a very busy day and sadly didn’t get much done in regard to Tenkei Tales I, but at least now all the presents are wrapped and the christmas mail is written, so I can focus again on gamedev. It’s pretty clear now that I won’t be finished in time for christmas, but that was kinda foreseeable – that’s exactly the reason why I didn’t give an exact release date yet. Please take a look at the current progress:
You will notice that only the “Maps” bar has filled up a little, with the “Coding” bar still at 0%, which isn’t exactly a good thing considering there’s only one week left until christmas. Making the maps takes a reeeeaaaally long time due to my methods and I believe there’s a lot of room to improve and get faster, but right now, I can only keep at it and do my best! (๑و•̀ω•́)و While all but three maps are sketched, and roughly 90% of those already have proper lineart, filled-in colors, furniture and even some light and shadow, it’ll still take some time to finish everything. Especially considering that the biggest map (the outside area of the lighthouse) is one of those who still need to be started.
For now, I’m shooting for a release around New Year’s, but that might not work out either, because, well… christmas holidays. ((*゜Д゜)ゞ” We’re expecting visitors on several days and I’ll take a day off on the 24th. But don’t worry! Things’ll run a lot more smoothly next year, cause I’ll know better what I’m doing and will probably have figured out a lot of things along the way. （。＞ω＜）。(This Tenkei Tales is only the first, as you may have already guessed by looking at the “I” – I’d love to do something like this every year around christmas time! Characters, settings and sometimes even genres will vary greatly each year, though.)
Okay, so! With all that out of the way, let me introduce our playable characters! (｡’▽’｡)♡ If you follow my Twitter account you’ll probably know those two already from my Halloween avatar: They’re Tsukasa and Setsuya, a duo of brothers who’ve been living with the Minagawas for a few months now. While Kanami lives in the adjacent house, they have taken residence in the fourth floor of the lighthouse, where they’ve got their own shared room. (You may notice that there IS a guest room in Kanami’s house, but Tsukasa thought that living in a lighthouse would be really cool and Setsuya just went along with that idea, so yeah. o__O) They are considered guests, but are helping out around the house or keep Kanami company while her busy family is out. (If they look somehow butler-like to you, that’s because Tsukasa thought being a butler would be kinda cool too. His concept of “cool” might be a little bit unusual. :’D)
As you can see, Tsukasa (月咲) is an easily excited and spirited person with lots of energy! Ｏ(≧▽≦)Ｏ He’s very friendly and outgoing, instantly getting along with most people (especially kids) and always curious about all kinds of things. While he seems childish and says outlandish stuff sometimes, he can be surprisingly perceptive and brave, not shying away from any danger. Which is, combined with his recklessness, part of the reason he manages to get himself into trouble quite often. ∑(;°Д°) His name consists of the Kanji for month or moon (月) and blossom (咲).
Setsuya (晢也) is the younger of the two. He’s a calm and quiet person, often getting dragged along by his enthusiastic brother or having the dubious honor of saving him from trouble for the umpteenth time. (●´ω｀●)ゞ He’s quite nervous around new people and won’t talk much until he knows them better, so he might be perceived as cold by some. Setsuya is very responsible, always looking out for Tsukasa and Kanami, even if they complain sometimes when he’s too strict with them. His name consists of the Kanji for “light of stars” and “shine” (晢) and a classical form of “to be” (也).
Tsukasa and Setsuya might have very different personalities, but they get along perfectly well and are always together, no matter what happens. Like… even on my artworks. I can’t just draw one of them and leave the other out. (・・。)ゞ (Their fates have been intertwined for a long time, but that’s another story! One I plan to tell in two manga volumes, if I ever manage to find enough time. The story has been written down meticulously and with every detail, but yeah… drawing manga is still hard. °^°)
So yeah! Those two will be playable and you’ll get different responses depending on the character you examine something with. There’ll be things only Setsu can do and things only Tsukasa can do… or rather “is reckless or crazy enough to do”. I really hope you’ll like them, because they’re very dear to me! (｡･ω･｡)
