November Update #1

Hiiii, everyone!! ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ

Aaaah, my second most favorite month is over already and I feel like I barely did any spooky stuff~. At least it’s pretty cold outside by now, so that’s one thing to be happy about! (…for me. Usually, no one else agrees :’D)

Last week, I tried to FINALLY get the Grawlix pages done, which turned out to be quite problematic. Since I wanted to separate Hyoukyo Mirror and Hyoukyo Traitor, I had to make a new subpage for both, which also meant going through the setup process again. After making the unfortunate discovery that I had forgotten most of the things I needed to do in order to get it working, I eventually found some old links and a few notes to help me with that, but yeah… that’s what I get for postponing this for almost half a year. ;; Anyway! It’s all fine now, the first page is up and even working better than the previous version, which always gave me weird error messages when trying to use certain functions.

Well, I still wasted a whole day trying to achieve a certain look, which didn’t work out in the end. For Hyoukyo Mirror, I had planned to make an appropriate mirror theme, meaning that the background showed a mirror frame and all the other stuff – like the banner and pages – would be inside of that frame. But for that to work, I had to find out how to shift the containers and images accordingly, which was a bit confusing since many values were scattered across several CSS files. Somehow, my stubborn side activated and I refused to give up until I was satisfied… but to my horror, it turned out that the page didn’t look the same on different browsers, because they apparently have their own ways of rendering CSS, and even resetting/normalizing didn’t help. If I used another browser than Firefox, the banner and page would peek out of the mirror frame, which looked quite stupid, as you can probably imagine. Sooooo in the end… I finally decided to scrap that idea and draw a new background without frame. Sigh. In case you’re curious, that’s more or less what the original idea looked like (the banner didn’t have its own frame in the original version, though):

If you want to take a look at the new page, you can do so here: http://hyoukyo-mirror.prismanga.com/ …but right now, it’s still under construction and there’s nothing much to see. I’ll try to upload everything as soon as possible (the descriptions are safely stored in a document on my computer, so I just need to copy-paste) and complete the character page as well! I’d also like to include a little Extras page to finally make good on my promise to write down a bit more about the creation process. I know I promise a lot of stuff, but I also try to not forget, even if it takes forever until I actually do it :’D

As soon as that’s done, I’ll try to finish the Hyoukyo Traitor page in time for the next update on Thursday. And of course new manga pages as well, because it would be kinda annoying to finally be done but lack things to upload (・・。)ゞ
If you haven’t seen the cover and the first page yet, you can take a look over here: http://prismanga.com/2017/11/02/hyoukyo-traitor/

Oh, and here’s the Kei from the preview pic! It’s just a quick artwork I did a while back, when I still didn’t know what to do for Halloween, but felt like drawing him again. As you can see, I tried out some things~

Alright then, I’ll get back to tinker with the Hyoukyo Mirror page now!
Have a great week and take care, everyone~! <3
